Exterior painting that survives Manchester weather
Render, masonry, fascias, soffits, window frames and front doors — cleaned back, repaired, primed and finished with systems designed to take a decade of horizontal rain.
Exterior work is where preparation goes from important to non-negotiable. Paint slapped over flaking render or damp timber fails in eighteen months, whatever it cost. We scrape and sand back to a sound surface, treat any organic growth, repair cracks, and prime bare patches before the first finish coat goes anywhere near the wall.
We use exterior systems from Dulux Trade Weathershield and equivalent ranges — masonry paints that flex with the building and woodwork finishes that seal end grain properly. And we're honest about timing: exterior painting in Manchester is a late-spring-to-early-autumn job, and we'd rather book you into the right window than rush a finish that won't last.
What we take on
- Render and masonry painting — smooth, pebbledash and roughcast
- Fascias, soffits, bargeboards and guttering repaints
- Window frames, sills and exterior doors in gloss or satin
- Front door transformations, including period door colour schemes
- Garden walls, railings, gates and outbuildings
- Fungicidal washes and stabilising primers on tired surfaces

Common questions
More on the contact page — or just ask.
When's the best time of year for exterior painting?
Roughly April to October, when surfaces are dry and temperatures stay above 8–10°C overnight. We book exterior work into weather windows and plan around the forecast — it's better to wait a week than seal moisture into timber.
My render is cracked and flaking — can you still paint it?
Usually, yes. Hairline cracks get filled with flexible exterior filler, flaking areas are scraped back and stabilised, and badly blown patches get flagged honestly at quote stage. Paint hides nothing on exteriors, so the repair work comes first.
How long should exterior paintwork last?
On properly prepared masonry, eight to ten years is realistic. Exposed woodwork wants checking every four to six. The preparation and the product quality decide it — which is why we're fussy about both.
